Friday Fictioneers | Into The Light

I walk away.
I turn back.
Sun hits sea hits sand.
They look out to the horizon as I look out to them.
They’re a lighthouse not bright enough to warn me of surrounding dangers.
It was lust. It was love. It was fear and pain.
They hit me, apologised and did it again.
I knew it was my fault. I was salty waves eroding their temper.
Until I knew it wasn’t my fault.
They were the darkest ocean chipping at my soul.
Finally free I look back only to see the beauty of distance from the monster to me.

Story written using the above photo prompt for the Friday Fictioneers challenge by Rochelle.

  1. Wow! WOW! That is a very powerful write you have there. It’s deeper than the ocean upon which it was written. I better watch out… I might drown my keyboard for the tears. Wow!
